"The most depressing truth to know, the fact that is so hard to accept, the reality that is so heart-breaking to face, is that whatever I do, I will never be good enough for them, and I have to live with that every single day for the rest of my life. It pains me knowing I can never please them. It is just so disappointing that while everyone says you did great, your love ones (the only people you wanted to be happy for you) only see you as the immature, irresponsible, will-never-be-good-enough, below average girl."--Samantha Diaz in the novel BOO-BOO, BOOM OF A WRITER WANNA-BE written by Jenss Hababag

Yesterday, May 29, 2007, I was in a photo shoot when suddenly papa texted me: "Congrats Jenny! I read your items in the newspaper." Read what?? I wasn't even sure what papa was talking about so i called him immediately. To my surprise, disbelief, happiness (can't explain, mix emotions I guess), the article I submitted for Youngblood (Philippine Daily Inquirer), I don't even remember when (a week ago I guess) has been published! God has really been good to me.here's the link to the article that made its way to Youngblood column:INTERNSHIP 101 (YOUNGBLOOD, PDI)

IS THERE A JOB WAITING FOR ME?
Creativoices Office
I got in the office earlier than usual and decided to read Sir Lloyd’s self-help book. I learned so many things in the book. Things you’ll not learn in school. I love the book because it shows how an individual can achieve his goals by just proper decision management.
After reading the whole book, I began asking myself what I really want to do. What are my goals? What do I want to do after school? Is there a job waiting for me?
I absolutely think there is a job waiting for me especially now that I know what I want to be. There is no place other than the voice industry to be home. I found my place and I have to make the most of it, the most of my writing skills, the most of my voice.
Sir Lloyd’s book is a confirmation that everything can happen if you work hard, if you study, if you know the practicalities of life, techniques of handling your intellect and emotion, the road you are taking, and your goals and aspirations.
After reading, I was assigned to translate episode 35 of OFFSIDE. Honestly, I had a hard time translating text without the video clip because I am not into soccer. And OFFSIDE is really for the boys. hah…
After the translation of one episode which surprisingly took me 2 hours, I took off.

DUBBING OF THE GRUDGE
Studio E & F, ABS-CBN
Today is Sunday and we are supposed to be resting at home, sleeping or watching movies but we are not. Instead, I woke up, went to Quezon Ave Mrt Station and waited for my peers. Then, we headed to ABSCBN… everyone’s excited to see the stars especially John Lloyd.
At the front desk, we learned how it felt to be a trespasser. The security guard’s look is telling us not to try entering the network’s premises. But his look didn’t even work because we are there for business. Hahaha, he can’t do anything because our ids are clear…Creativoices Staff! And we are dubbers.
Seriously, we had a hard time with the elevators because we didn’t know there are elevators assigned for different floors, well, we still managed to find Studio E in one piece.
The day went really fine. We saw celebrities like Toni Gonzaga, Shaina Magdayao, and Oyo Boy Sotto but those are just plus to the real experience of illegally taking pictures of the studios, running away from the security guards, and feeling part of Creativoices Productions.
One thing I like most during this day is crowd dubbing for The Grudge. Yes it was a very small part, of being part of the crowd walking in the streets of Japan. It was a small part to be the background of the real deal. But it felt good. It felt great to be part of a production no matter how small the part is. After all, the crowd sets the ambiance.
So like before, we saw great voice talents like Sir Benjie Dorango, Sir John Mylas, Sir Ryan Ang, Ate Pinky, Ate Ria, and Ate Cris. They are really good. It looks like they are just playing, but truth is, they are enjoying their profession. And nothing is more than loving your profession.

CONTACTING, PODCASTING, LETTER WRITING
Creativoices Office and INQ7.NET
The day was devoted to contact the great people that we will have to interview. I texted Sir Mitch but he did not reply. Same thing happened with the other groups. I don’t know if they are really busy people or if they just thought we are a scam or anything. I feel nervous when the thought of talking to these people comes across mind because I’m just an aspiring voice enthusiast and they are all the way up. I do hope to learn from their experiences and knowledge. And I hope to be encouraged/inspired and not intimidated by their life’s achievements and contributions to the industry.
Day by day I come to realize that this is what I want to do. This is the place where I want to be. I want to be part of the industry. I want to work in the voice acting industry. And I will do it.
Now I know where my life is heading.
In the afternoon, Jeanette, Jeddah and I went with Sir Brian to INQ7.NET for Hackenslash. We get the chance to set up the pod cast pack for the first time… great.. hoping they’ll teach us to record the whole thing and do pod cast on our own… hehehe (wishing, wishing, wishing)
The best teacher for me is hands-on experience. Whew…
After the pod cast, Sir Brian and the hosts talked about movies: starwars, never ending story, LOTR, Jurassic park, 300, ghost rider, marvel, flash, etc. etc. etc..
In my mind I was thinking so this is boy talk… hahaha
Kidding aside, I think for today, I learned boys will always be boys. they will never get tired talking about machismo the way girls never get out of fashion and passion of course.
The toughest part is the letter writing part. We had rewritten the letter of request for more or less 5 times. But I took it as a learning experience.
Well, this has been a tiring week. I think I’ll spend the whole Saturday sleeping… I’m off.

LETTER WRITING AND PLANNING Creativoices Office
The wind obviously stopped blowing. It’s very humid thanks to the very hot weather. How I wish to have AC soon hehe… I can really feel summer.
Well, I finished the last three children stories which are due tomorrow. Thank goodness! Aside from the stories, Sir Choy gave the contact numbers of the VIPs in the voice-over and voice acting industry.
Some groups are busy finishing their scripts and stories, some are planning their concept papers. Very busy, huh?
Sir Choy asked us to write a formal letter for the project we are about to do and I’m glad I was able to put the things I learned in ENG102 (Business Writing) to good use.
So, that’s just what happened today. Sir Choy went out early because he needs a new haircut. Yup, haircut!—for HeroTV interview.
I can sum up this day in three words: hot, busy, and short.

PREPARATION, CLEANING OPERATION Creativoices Office
Today, we cleaned the office period. A major overhaul! Sir Choy’s new workstations arrived and I can see his joy in what he has now.
While looking at Sir Choy’s face, I’m thinking of what he might be thinking at the moment. I thought of what he is saying to himself.
This is where my dream starts. This is another step towards my goal.
Actually, I’m happy for Sir. It’s like seeing him harvest the fruits of his hard work.
In my mind, I was saying another individual made it to the hall of success. So why can’t I?
That was the idea dancing in my mind. I would do it in the future if I start now. I am going to make it.
So much for that.
Afterwards, we discussed the questions for the interview we are about to conduct. Wow! Sir Choy has big plans for the voice-over and voice acting industry. I wonder if we will be recognized in the book… just let things be.
What I’m actually excited for is the actual interview of various voice artists. I’m excited to learn what it’s like to be in the industry; to be inspired with their life stories; and to be encouraged through their advice and lessons that they would share.
I said it before, and I’ll still say it now. Everything is brand new to me and everything has been a ground for learning. Creativoices Productions is full of surprises and spontaneity. I’m loving and enjoying every second of my stay here while learning things I know school would not be able to teach me. That’s absolutely great!
Oh, I almost forgot we watched The Grudge and boy are we scared! First time to watch horror film. See, everything is a brand new experience.
We also went to Inquirer.Net to give Cayetano’s pod cast file. Good thing we didn’t get lost… happy!

DISCUSSION, SUBMISSION OF ASSIGNMENTS
Creativoices Office
Today, we submitted the requirements needed. Photocopy of form5s and ids, children’s stories, reports on Beck and researches on voice acting. We also accomplished a one-page questionnaire in preparation for the interview we will be conducting for the documentation of various professional voice artists.
Aside from passing all the requirements, we listened to Sir Choy’s very light talk. He talked of his future plans, his thoughts, his childhood dreams. Looks like he is real close to his dreams even if he said that he is still 99 steps away.
He shared with us his experiences as an active youth volunteer. His disclosures inspired us one way or another.
As he ask us about our experiences during our first week, I can’t help but realize that all things we encountered are all new to me. It’s like expanding my horizons and seeing the real world for the very first time.
“I consider yourself your teacher now.”—Sir Choy
“Ang pagpasok niyo rito, big challenge rin sa akin.”—Sir Choy
He said we should enjoy our youth now that we still have it so in the future, when we already age, we won’t miss a thing and have no regrets. He said he even wants us to be part of the Society of Young Voice Artists of the Philippines. Personally, I think it is a great idea since most of us want to hone our skills to become professional voice artists in the future. (wishing, wishing, wishing)
According to Sir Choy everything is a problem and all we need to do is find a solution. Take it as a challenge. Everything in the industry is spontaneous.
I also learned that in the industry you have to be available and accept all offers as much as possible. Calls are very important because it means business. It means the job wants you, needs you.
Sir Choy also made us listen to the already made productions. He made us compare the production produced inside a real studio (traditional or old school) to a production made outside the studio (new approach). Basically, the qualities are the same. We felt the mood, situation, and theme.
I learned that a production will only be successful / powerful if the ambiance is established, if the energy level is consistent, if the effect, mood, music, scene, and setting is established.
At the end of the day, I think I learned the basic elements in voice acting productions, at the same time knowing Sir Choy the more.

RADIO DRAMA SESSION
Creativoices Office
Right now there is a radio drama dubbing session happening here in the office for MDG. Three voice artists are recording while all 9 of us are background extras. (I think its called crowd dubbing).
Before Sir Choy came, the three voice artists were talking. I overheard them saying maybe they'll go to a studio and just meet in the office because the office doesn't have a studio. Little do they know that they are about to dub in the same room.
According to Sir Choy, it is called New Approach where you don't need a studio anymore. All you need is a computer and equipment (microphone) and you can turn the office to a studio.
I noticed that when there are mistakes, it is not necessary to start the whole thing all over again because of modern technologies. They just have to continue and the editing will do the trick.
Software that does the trick? Adobe Audition!
INTERVIEW: SIR ALLAN ORTEGA
Creativoices Office
I got to interview Sir Allan Ortega, former Dat's Entertainment celebrity. He is a DZEZ radio talent now, and has been in the business for quite a long time. He's done dubbing for tv shows like Inocente de Ti, Monica Brava, and Jackie Chan Adventures. He's also done radio dramas for RH like Gabi ng Lagim and Mr. Romantiko.
He has a good personality and a good sense of humor. We asked him why he concentrated more on radio rather than showbiz. We laughed when he said all offers he receives are for bold movies which is what he does not want to do.
We were taken by his modest demeanor. In the short interview we had, I saw how he loves his profession now.
What he said encouraged all of us: "pag nakapasok sa industriya, maging seryoso, alagaan ang trabaho at 'wag kalilimutan ang respeto sa sarili, sa trabaho, at sa ka-trabaho."
HERO TV'S BECK LAUNCHING
Cinema 3, SM Megamall
We met Sir Carlo Landrito at Cinema3 in SM Megamall for the launching of Hero TV's new animated series Beck Mongolian Chop Squad.
I was surprised when I found out Sir Carlo is a UPLB graduate and we even have the same adviser. Great!
So there, we watched it's premiere where behind the scenes of the dubbing sessions are showcased.
